Emergency Notification System
LPSD uses a multi-channel notification system to communicate with families during emergencies:
- Text messages via our school notification system
- Email to all registered family addresses
- Phone calls to primary contact numbers

Please ensure your contact information is current at your child’s school office.
Weather Closures
Given Alaska’s challenging weather conditions, school closures or delays may be necessary. Notifications will be sent by 6:00 AM when possible.

- Call your school directly
Emergency Procedures
Weather-Related Closures
In case of severe weather, schools may:
- Delay start time by 2 hours
- Close for the day
- Release students early
All weather-related decisions will be communicated through our notification system.
Lockdown Procedures
Schools conduct regular lockdown drills. In the event of a real emergency:
- Students will be secured in safe locations
- Parents will be notified as soon as safe
- Follow instructions from school and law enforcement
Evacuation Procedures
Fire and earthquake drills are conducted regularly. In an evacuation:
- Students will be moved to designated safe areas
- Parents will be notified via our emergency system
- Follow reunion procedures at your school’s designated location
